Thomas Henry (1798-1879), born in Ireland, settled in Toronto, Canada, with his family, in 1811. He was hired as a substitute in the army in the War of 1812 and was part of a garrison overseeing American prisoners on the Canadian side of the border. "Father Henry" became a leading figure among the "Christians" in Canada and New York. His memoir contains many references to his interaction with the Methodists and the Baptists, and also shows that he did not approve of or participate in the efforts of Alexander Campbell to gain control over the "Christian" movement. Henry remained with the Christian Conference all of his life.
