With Introduction by Miss Julia Fraser, Former Secretary of the Former Woman's Board of Home Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the U. S. A.
Mary Margaret Crawford (1861-1946), b. Columbiana, Ohio; d. Lapwai, Nez Perce, Idaho. She was a Moody Bible Institute graduate, and at the time this was written, Miss Crawford had worked for forty-one years among the Indians in Idaho through the agency of the Presbyterian Mission at Lapwai. This book relates her early experiences, past and present camp meetings, citizenship and temperance, training a native church leadership, and interactions with the government workers. She endorsed the tribal languages as perfectly adequate and did not think that the Indians should be forced to use English.
This is a vivid, personal account written by a faithful woman who loved the Indians and her Lord, and worked diligently to bring her Nes Perces friends to faith in Christ.
