Dillon Wallace (1863- 939), b. Craigsville, NY; d. Beacon, NY. A lawyer by profession, in 1903 he took up exploration and writing. He conducted three explorations in Labrador, and wrote twenty-six books between 1905 and 1936, when he retired. He was three times reported missing and dead over the years of his explorations, traveling in areas as diverse from each other as Labrador and Mexico. His first books on Labrador were best-sellers, launching his writing career. He made frequent contributions to the Outing Magazine, of which he was a staff member, and for the National Sportsman, American Boy, and others. Wallace was also active in Boy Scout work.

The publisher, Fleming H. Revell, specialized in evangelical Christian books, so we believe that Wallace was a member of one.
