An informative address describing the campaign and its historical importance.

John Austin Stevens (1795-1874), son of Revolutionary War General Ebenezer Stevens (1751-1823), who fought at Bunker Hill and at Saratoga.  John Austin Stevens was a successful businessman and banker, and was a prominent philanthropist.

His interest and studies of the Revolutionary period - especially of the battle at Saratoga - would have been informed by his father having first-hand knowledge of events.
