The Covenanter Church in the United States forbade its members from voting in the elections of the United States, since the US Constitution did not explicitly align the country under the Kingship of Jesus Christ, as required by the old Scottish Covenant of 1638. This does not mean that they are not patriotic or that they would not serve their country, as this record proves.
"People who do not understand, marvel that a Covenanter will give his life for his country but withholds his vote at election time. A Covenanter will give his life because of his loyalty to his country, and withholds his vote at election time because of his loyalty to Christ." p. 5.
