Skinner, Thomas H. Defense of Presbyterian Doctrine and Order against the False Unionism & Liberalism of the Times. Cincinnati: Gazette Company Printers, 1876. [9374]

6 x 9 inches, printed white wrappers - now a bit soiled, 35 clean pp. Very good. Pamphlet.

The Defense is a "history of the publication of this Suppressed Speech," given by Skinner at the meeting of the Presbytery of Cincinnati the same year, in which he calls for the dismissal of Rev. W. C. McCune for publishing items contrary to Presbyterian doctrine, and for setting up the schismatical congregation of Linwood and Mt. Lookout Church. It is a detailed account which condemns the principles & doctrines taught by McCune.

Thomas Harvey Skinner, Jr. (1820-1892), b. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; d. Chicago, Illinois. A Presbyterian minister and scholar, he became professor of Didactic and Polemic Theology in McCormick Theological Seminary in 1881.
