The Register was owned and edited by Sir Walter Scott and James Ballantyne. It began in 1808 as an ambitious project, but was always published two years after the events chronicled, and ultimately the Register was a financial failure.
This volumes included the Chronicle for the entire year including a chapter on the war with America (War of 1812), British and Foreign State Papers, Public Accounts, List of Patents for 1813, Meetings of Parliament, Bills for improving the Criminal Law, Conduct of the Irish Catholics, Causes and Origin of the War with America, The War in Spain, Progress of the Russian Armies against the French, Decisive Battle of Leipzig, Original Poetry including The Dance of Death by Walter Scott.
