This Presbytery was formed in 1870 from the following Presbyteries and parts of Presbyteries: Presbytery of Tioga (Binghamton, Conklin, Owego, Spencer, Nichols, Union, Apalachin, Hawleyton, Castle Creek, Silver Lake, Waverly), the Presbytery of Cortland (Marathon, Preble, McGrawville, Truxton, Cortland, Whitney's Point, DeRuyter, Willet, Virgil, Freetown, Cincinnatus), the Presbytery of Chenango (Coventry, Masonville, Nineveh), Presbytery of Delaware (Deposit, Cannonsville), Presbytery of Mohawk (Smithville Flats), and the Presbytery of Albany (Windsor).

Each congregation is described, with a short history.
