Bound with Bible School Songs, For the Use of Sunday-Schools. Prepared by Mrs. J. F. Knapp, Author of "The Notes of Joy," and J. H. Vincent, Editor of "The Sunday-School Journal." New York: Nelson & Phillips, (1873). This last book is the 64 page section mentioned above. This has 79 selections, words only, with one page of tunes.

The Notes of Joy has music in four parts with round notes. This has selections by Rev. Alfred Taylor, Fanny Crosby, A. Van Alstyne, W. H. Doan, Rev. Leonard W. Bacon, Josephine Pollard, Hubert P. Main, Mrs. Joseph F. Knapp, and others.

Mrs. Joseph F. Knapp is Phoebe Palmer (1839-1908), b. New York City, d. Poland Springs, Maine. She was the daughter of the Christian holiness writer Phoebe Palmer (1807-1874) and named after her mother. Mrs. Knapp is credited with writing over 500 gospel songs and tunes, including "Blessed Assurance," "Nearer the Cross," and "Wonderful Saviour." Her husband was a wealthy businessman, the founder of the Metropolitan Insurance Company, and the couple contributed much of their wealth to Christian causes among the Methodists.
