This tour was conducted in Palestine and in Europe. The party consisted of Dr. Black, Professor of Divinity in Marischal College, Aberdeen; Dr. Alexander Keith, Minister of St. Cyrus and author of The Evidence of the Truth of the Christian Religion from the Fulfillment of Prophecy; Rev. Robert Murray M'Cheyne; and Rev, Andrew A, Bonar.

The account relates the observations of these learned men in respect to the condition of the scattered Jews in Europe and in Palestine. Includes interviews with rabbis, evidences of fulfilled prophecies, illustrations of Bible passages, Jewish rites and traditions, descriptions of cities including Constantinople, Jewish settlements in Poland, &c.

"The delegates selected for this mission were, by their learning and piety, admirably qualified for their work, and the volume which they have produced is of profound interest. Not only is the information which they give of the scattered tribes of Israel of great value, but their incidental observations on manners and customs tend in a pleasing way to illustrate the Sacred Scriptures. The maps and plates give additional value to the volume." - Descriptive Catalogue of the Publications of the Presbyterian Board of Publication, and Sabbath-School Work (1888), p. 129.
