George Washington Janvier, D.D. (1784-1865), b. in Delaware; d. Pittsgrove, New Jersey. His family was of Huguenot descent; when 20 years of age he joined the Presbyterian Church, studied with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Read, and at Princeton. He became pastor of the church at Pittsgrove in 1811 and continued in that role until 1857. The sermon mentions several revivals which took place during his ministry.
