Very good, bound in teal quarter leather with raised bands, marbled boards, 4 3/4 x 7 inches, 491 clean and unmarked pp., tight. Ex seminary library with round blindstamp on the tp, small paper label on spine, lender's slip at back, card holder neatly removed. Very good.
Ernest Hello (1828-1885), French Roman Catholic writer, born to a French jurist. Frail from youth yet of unusual intelligence, his writing in philosophy and theology are appreciated by thoughtful readers. His first book, 'Renan, l'Allemagne et l'Atheisme (1858) was a brilliant refutation of Renan.
