Rev. Samuel George Willard (1819-1887), b. Wilton, Connecticut; d. Colchester, Connecticut. He was a descendant of the puritan minister Samuel Willard, one of the early presidents of Harvard College. Willard graduated at Yale College (1846), and studied in the Yale Seminary. He was pastor of the First Congregational Church in Willimanic, Conn. (1849-1868), and of the same at Colchester, Conn. (1868-1887).
He served as a state legislator, as a trustee of the General Hospital for the Insane (Conn.), and held several administrative positions for Yale College, and for the Missionary Society of Connecticut.
