Thirty-five separate issues in wrappers, three without the front of the wrapper, some other wrappers are detached. Each 9 x 6 1/4 inches, about 32 pp. plus adverts, many b/w text illustrations. Within this group there are 20 chromolithographed plates of flowers and floral arrangements. We notice one issue with a small article cut out. good. Paperback.

This is not a complete run. It begins with Vol I. No. 1 and ends with volume 13 no. 9. Each issue filled with b/w illustrations and articles on gardening. 

James Vick (1818-1882), b. Portsmouth, Hampshire, England; d. Rochester, New York. An "horticultural scientist, his internationally famous Vick Park Nursery was second only in the region to the Ellwanger and Barry Company and was one of the prime reasons for Rochester's becoming known as 'The Flower City', a nickname by which it is still known.

"He left his close friend Charles Dickens behind in England to emigrate to the United in 1859, and founded his company in 1866. He was a pioneer in the seed catalog business, initially gathering the seeds by hand from his own flower-planted acreage, and the Vick Seed Company was a strong going concern for many decades, only recently bought out by Burpee.
