Charles Kingsley (1819-1875), Anglican clergyman, novelist, historian, and social reformer, remembered for his advocacy against child labor in his book, The Water-Babies.

"He was a 'disciple' of Frederick Denison Maurice...and was much interested in Christian socialism. Among his many writings perhaps 'The Water Babies' and 'Westward Ho!' are best known today. He became Regius Professor of modern history at Cambridge and a chaplain to Queen Victoria. He was a Canon of Chester Cathedral, and was appointed Canon of Westminster in 1873." - Westminster Abbey dot org.
