Bunyan, John. The Minor Works of John Bunyan; containing: The Water of Life; Solomon's Temple Spiritualized; Christ a Complete Saviour; Divine Breathings; and Grace Abounding. Portsmouth, N. H.: William & Daniel Treadwell, 1804. [4924]

Original leather binding, lacks the spine title label, 17.6 x 10.8 cm (7 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches), (i)-iv, (5)-63, (64-67), 68-212, (213-215), 216-330 pp., tight, old stains. Complete text. Separate title page for Solomon's Temple with full imprint; half-title for Christ a Complete Saviour; the page numbers are continuous for the volume. Leaf 243-244 with chip at top margin, affecting a few words of text; small hole in leaf 251-252 affecting one word. Printed in old font with the long "s". Very good.

The title page is a bit ambitious for the book includes The Water of Life; Solomon's Temple Spiritualized (with separate tp), and Christ a Complete Savior (with half title), but does not include the last two works mentioned. Final page with "finis" at bottom.

The publisher issued two different general title pages in the same year for this book (compare OCLC 1073037675 with 741517894); one, like this with five titles and the other with only three. Both have 330 pp. as our copy does.

Spiritual food for the mature Christian from the author of The Pilgrim's Progress.

John Bunyan (1628-1688), b. at Elstow, Bedfordshire, England. "After learning to read and write he followed his father's business of a travelling tinker. Led a dissolute life for some time, but was at length converted, and began to study the Holy Scriptures, in which he acquired a great knowledge. Served in the Parliament Army. Became a member of a Baptist congregation at Bedford, about 1655, to whom he occasionally preached, for which, at the Restoration, he was confined in Bedford for twelve years and a half. It was here that he wrote his Pilgrim's Progress, one of the most original and popular books in the English language. On being released he became teacher of the Baptist congregation at Bedford." - Darling's Cyclopedia Bibliographica.
