The life of Col. Thomas Knowlton (1740-1776), b. West Boxford, Massachusetts Bay; d. New York City. Knowlton was an American patriot who served in the French & Indian War, and led the Connecticut militia at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775. He was made the Lieutenant Colonel of Knowlton's Rangers, the Continental Army's elite reconnaissance and espionage unit.

He was killed in action at the Battle of Harlem Heights in September, 1776.
