Murray Hoffman (1791-1878), b. New York City; d. Flushing, Long Island. He graduated at Columbia in 1809, studied law, and opened a practice in NYC. He was appointed judge of the Superior Court in New York in 1853, serving until 1861. He was an active layman in the Episcopal Church, and wrote three books on Church Law, as well as several on the laws of New York State and New York City.
