Margaret Elizabeth Sangster (1838-1912), b. New Rochelle, NY; d. South Orange, NJ. She was a Christian author and editor who wrote for some of the leading periodicals of her day. She wrote stories for girls and women, as well as hymns and poetry. She was an editor for many periodicals, including Hearth and Home, the Christian Intelligencer, Harper's Young People, and Harper's Bazaar. An active member of the Dutch Reformed Church, she served on the Woman's Board of Foreign Missions of her denomination, and wrote a history of the missions of her church. Her writings promote a living and devotional faith in the Lord.
