George Rochfort Clarke (1801-1880), b. & d. at Chesterton, Oxfordshire, England. He was educated at Cambridge, became a barrister, a justice of the peace, and a country gentleman with holdings in England and Ireland. He published works on the law as well as on public sanitation and on religion. He was known as having a strong anti-Catholic bent in his religious writings.
