The preacher was the pastor of the First Congregational Church in Norwich, Connecticut. Includes the remarks given graveside.

Jabez William Huntington (1788-1847), b. & d. at Norwich, Connecticut. He was educated at Yale College, afterwards studying law at Litchfield, and was admitted to the bar in 1810. He served several terms in the US House of Representatives, and also several terms as a US Senator.
