The above is the official title for this report. What it contains are military expenses and monies paid to many Indian tribes. Detailed lists of expenses for repairs of military fortifications, improvements of harbors and rivers, a marine hospital at Key West, various building repairs, &c.

The War Department section is pp. 14-17, followed by monies for the post office, territorial governments, light houses, public lands, &c. There are ten pages listing expenses for the army, navy, and marines.

Beginning at p. 38 are lists of items paid for for many Indian tribes, including "The Christian Indians"; Chippewas of Saginaw; Chippewas, Menomonies, Winnebagoes, and New York Indians; Chippewas, Ottowas, and Pottawatomies; Choctaws; Creeks; Chickasaws; Cherokees; Chippewas of Lake Superior and Mississippi; Delawares; Florida Indians; Iowas; Kickapoos; Kanzas; Miamis; The Eel Rivers (Miamis); Menomonies; Omahas; Ottowas and Chippewas; Otoes and Missourias; Osages; Ottowas; etc., etc. - many more groups are listed. The repeat of tribal names is just as we find them here, indicating different groups or bands.

This whole section is pp. 38-59 and includes much of what one might expect, but also unusual payments, such as "For ransoming a white boy, by the name of Franck Lee Whitter, from the Camanches [sic]; For expenses attending the holding of a treaty with the Caddoes and other wandering tribes; For pay of a farmer; For education" etc.

Many of the expenses paid were stipulated by treaty, and include such things as farming equipment, blacksmiths, salt, provisions, &c.
