A recent vote by Congress to increase the size of the US Army required reports to be made of desertions, the history of the US Army organization, and estimates of increased costs due to salaries, uniforms, &c.
This report has charts showing the number of desertions from the US Army since the year 1832.
This includes a recommendation that the US offer a bounty to soldiers re-enlisting, as the cost of keeping a good soldier is much less than the cost of recruiting one.
Also includes a graph of the "number of commissioned officers of the regular army killed and wounded in Florida, and who died of disease incident to the climate, and from exposure while engaged in the Seminole campaigns, from 1835 to December, 1837."
There are also charts showing the organization of the Army, year by year, starting 1785 and continuing to 1836. These show the number and kind of regiments or battalions, description of the troops, the officers, number of rank and file, &c.
