An anonymous response to an anonymous complainer regarding the British and Foreign Bible Society, a Society which the Country Clergyman had declared to be "the most insidious enemy the Church has ever encountered." The detractor complains that putting the Bible in the hands of the ignorant, without a guide, will result in catastrophe [an argument frequently made by adherents of the Church of Rome]. His arguments are a species of ridicule.
Our Vindicator, in this pamphlet responds to, and answers, the objections.
"I do not then see how it is proved, that the Bible Society, is in her means inadequate to her end; that instead of a blessing on all lands, she assumes the appearance of mischief to our country; - that she prevents instead of promotes, the devout study of the scriptures. All these heavy charges have been I hope sufficiently divested of their force, and fall powerless, and ineffectual to the ground."
