Charles Mason Hovey (1810-1887), b. Cambridge, Mass., author of the two-volume work The Fruits of America. Charles, with his brother Phineas, owned a seed store and nursery in Cambridge. Charles approached agriculture scientifically, and wrote/compiled on the subject extensively. His Magazine of Horticulture was the longest-running periodical on the subject during the 19th century.
