Rev. Isaac Ferris, D.D. (1798-1873), Reformed Dutch Church minister, a graduate of Columbia College (1816), and the third Chancellor of New York University. Before becoming Chancellor he was the pastor of the Second Church of Albany (1824-1836), and of the Market Street Church in New York City (1836-1853). He was a founder of the Rutgers Female Institute, a member of the American Bible Society, and the founder of the YMCA in New York City. He was also the corresponding secretary for the Board of Foreign Missions of the Reformed Dutch Church.
