Elisha Reynolds Potter (1811-1882), b. & d. at Kingston, Rhode Island. He graduated at Harvard in 1830, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1832. He was an officer in the State Militia, served in the Rhode Island House of Representative, was a delegate to the state constitutional convention, and for one term in the US Congress as a Law and Order Party member. He served several terms in the Rhode Island State Senate, and was an associate justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court from 1868 until 1882.
