This gives a history of Korea before 1892; the founding of the Presbyterian mission; the stations at Chunju, Kunsan, & Mokpo; the wars in Korea in the first half of the twentieth century; and "The Communist War." This last section gives an account of being behind enemy lines, survival, an account of a prisoner of war.

George Thompson Brown (1921-2014), b. Kuling (now Lushan, Jiangxi Province, China; d. Stone Mountain, Georgia. Brown was born to Presbyterian missionaries in China. He returned to the USA to finish his education, serving as a pastor in Gastonia, NC. He became a missionary to Korea with the Presbyterian Church (US) in 1952, and helped found the Honam Bible School where he was Professor of New Testament and later President of Honam Seminary. Brown served his denomination as both Area Secretary for East Asia (1967-73), and later as Field Secretary for Korea. From 1973 to 1981 he was Director of International Mission for the Presbyterian Church (US).
