George Kingsley (1811-1884), b. & d. at Northampton, Massachusetts. He was a noted organist who played at the Old South Church and at the Hollis Street Church in Boston. At some period he taught music at Girard College, Philadelphia, also serving as the music supervisor for the Philadelphia public schools. He composed some 16 original tunes, and compiled several song and tune books.
