Worn full leather binding, 11 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches, sometime in the past partly rebound with the original backstrip relaid, the binding is scuffed with some loss to the edges; newly treated with an archival solution to retard red rot, which sealed the leather very well. The binding looks rough; the contents are good-very good.
The front end papers have some old repairs to the edges, and a few chipped edges. All page edges are gilt. 836, [1] clean pages with dozens of high-quality engraved portrait plates. Several pages at front with center crease. Fair. Hardcover.
