The Preliminary Discourse is the first 60 (lx) pages. The Preliminary Discourse is in modern English; the "Curious Tracts" are reproduced in the original Middle English.

There are six sections to this reproduction: 1. The Forme of Cury. A roll of ancient English cookery, compiled about A. D. 1390, by the master cooks of King Richard II., 196 recipes. 2. A vellum manuscript contemporary with the "Forme of Cury" containing ninety-one recipies. 3. A collection of recipes of English cookery, from a MS. in the library of the Royal Society. 4. A small collection of recipes, for the preservation of particular fruits, about 160 years old. 5. The inthronization feast of George Neville, Archbishop of Yorke...printed from an ancient roll. 6. The lenten inthronization feast of Archbishop William Warham, A.d A. 1504.

Rev. Richard Warner (1763-1857), English clergyman and antiquarian. In addition to his church duties, Warner wrote several books on walking excursions, history, and antiquarian subjects.
