Watts, Isaac; Cobbin, Ingram. Anecdotes and Reflections, illustrating Watts' Divine and Moral Songs for Children. Boston: Massachusetts Sabbath School Society, 1849. From the London Edition. Approved by the Committee of Publication. [11578]
Black cloth, boards blind stamped, spine in gilt, very good and clean, small nick at the top of the spine, 6 1/4 x 4 inches. Wood-engraved frontispiece of a family reading around a table. 198 pages, clean. Woodcut illustration at the beginning and end of each song. Very good. Hardcover.
Rev. Isaac Watts's very popular Divine and Moral Songs for Children is the basis for this little book. Rev. Cobbin adds an illustration or anecdote to press the spiritual meaning of about fifty songs. This book would be a fine basis for a series of sermons as well.
Rev. Ingram Cobbin (1777-1851), English Congregational minister, assistant secretary to the British and Foreign Bible Society.
