The Boxgrove Priory title is: The Architectural History of Boxgrove Priory. By the Rev. J. L. Petit, M.A., F.S.A.. Read before the Archaeological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland, at their Annual Meeting at Chichester, July 13th, 1853. With some Historical Remarks and Conjectures on the Priory and Church of Boxgrove, by the Rev. W. Turner, Vicar. 49 pp. of text; one lithograph in colors; one plate with two engravings; and 12 woodcuts.

The Shorham Collegiate Church title is: The Architectural History of S. Mary's Church, New Shoreham. By Edmund Sharpe, M.A., F.R.I.B.A. Read before the Archaeological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland, at their Annual Meeting at Chichester, July 16th, 1853. 47 pp. of text; 9 lithographs, one in colors, one double.

The last section is Supplemental Sketch of the Collective Architectural History of Chichester Cathedral, Boxgrove Priory, and S. Mary's Church New Shoreham as indicated by their Mouldings. By Edmund Sharpe, M.A., F.R.I.B.A. 32 pp. of text with 62 woodcuts in the text.

The bookplate belonged to Charles Grant Ellis (1920-2006), b. Sagamore, Massachusetts; d. Punta Gorda, Florida. He was a collector of antique rugs, wrote several books on the subject, and owned one of the finest collections in the United States. During WWII he served in the Army 700th Corp of Engineers working on the Burma Road. After the war he completed his degree in Civil Engineering, and became an avid collector of antique books on architecture.
