“Kirwan” was a pseudonym for Nicholas Murray, D.D., born in Ireland in 1802, emigrated to America in 1815; converted from Romanism to Presbyterianism, studied at Princeton and became pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethtown, N.J. in 1833.
A series of letters to the Bishop of New York, detailing in respectful arguments his opposition to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and his reasons for not returning to the fold.
