It relates a brief history of tobacco from colonial times until the 1840s, and shows charts of the tobacco trade with England and Scotland beginning with the year 1761. Pages 31-80 describe tobacco use and regulations in Sweden and Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, England, Scotland, Ireland, Gibralter, Malta, Spain on the Atlantic, France, Portugal, Italy, Sicily, Triests, Prussia, Hanse Towns, and a few other places. Pp. 81-93 includes several letters of interest on tobacco, including a chemical analysis.
