Lyman Coleman wrote Antiquities of the Christian Church, a well-received study of ancient Christianity. "H. W. D." takes issue with some of the contents of that work, and published a Review in The Banner of the Cross. Here Coleman answers his critic. Coleman found that the history of the ancient church confirmed his Presbyterian beliefs on such subjects as Christmas, equality of Bishops and Presbyters, Deacons, Baptism, Last Rites, Praying for the Dead, &c. "H. W. D." claims Coleman is in error.
