There are seven items in this report:
- A register of all the names an number of all the Cadets received into the West Point Military Academy, from the year 1800 to 1829, with those in the Army in 1829 noted, with additional information about their backgrounds and service.
- A list of those who were appointed Cadets but failed to attend the Academy, as well as foreigners received.
- Names and number of rejected Cadets.
- Names, offices, and pay of the professors of the Academy.
- Annual expenses relating to the Cadets, monthly pay, quarters, &c.
- Annual pay and emoluments of the professors, instructors, Cadets, all others employed by the Military Academy.
- Amount spent by the Academy for the construction and upkeep of buildings, the purchase of books, maps, apparatus, as well as pay and subsistence of teachers, officers, and Cadets, and other persons attached to the Academy.
The lists of Cadets includes such luminaries as W. K. Armistead, Joseph G. Totten, Leonidas Polk, Robert E. Lee, Joseph E. Johnston, Charles Pettigru, John B. Magruder, &c., &c. - there are hundreds of names listed within.
