This report lists monies received and expended for the care of sick and disabled sailors. It is grouped, mainly, by port at which they are stationed. In addition there are statements "of the manner and cost of providing for sick seamen in the several ports."
For instance, in Penobscot they were "boarded in private houses, at from $2.50 to $3.50 per week. Medical charges, extra."
In Philadelphia, "Boarded in the Pennsylvania Hospital, at 50 cents per day, including all expenses."
In Key West, "Boarded, in private houses, at $4.50 per week, including medical attendance."
And so on.
