Winslow challenges his hearers to seek the things of Christ, to put away selfishness, and to pray for and do what can be done to help others, especially those who have never heard of the Gospel of Christ.
Miron Winslow (1789-1864), b. Williston, Vermont; d. Cape Town, South Africa. He was for forty-five years a missionary in India with the ABCFM. Winslow was educated at Middlebury College and Andover Theological Seminary. He was in Oodooville, Ceylon, for seventeen years, and in 1836 was transferred to Madras. There he founded the Madras Mission, in 1840 became president of Madras College, and was the head of all of the mission schools. He oversaw the printing and editing of numerous books in the Tamil language, and at the time of his death was the oldest missionary serving with the ABCFM.
