The charts reveal in great detail the militia of the United States in 1826.

Each state or territory sent in the following information, recorded in the first chart: the number of Divisions, Brigades, Regiments, Companies; commissioned Officers; non-commissioned officers, musicians, and privates. The Infantry, Grenadiers, Light Infantry, and Riflemen are counted together; the Cavalry and Artillery are each listed separately.

The second chart pertains to weapons and accoutrements, with Muskets, Bayonets, Cartridge Boxes, Bayonet Scabbards, Brushes & Picks, Ball Screws and Worms, Spare Flints, Ball Cartridges, Rifles, Powder Horns, Pouches, etc., etc., all counted and listed. This second chart also includes brass and iron cannon by size.

The third chart is a more detailed accounting of Artillery equipment.
