Kiah Bayley (1770-1857), b. Vermont, graduate of Dartmouth, for 26 years pastor at Newcastle, Maine. "During his twenty-six years in this pastorate he was leader in the movement which led to the founding of Bangor Theological Seminary (1814)...he was also the founder of Lincoln Academy in Newcastle (1801) and supervised its operation for nearly twenty years. He was one of the small group of pastors who created the Maine Missionary Society and the Consociation which became the organization of the Congregational churches in Maine." - publisher.
