James Aitken Wylie (1808-1890); Scottish Presbyterian minister and author. Educated at Marischal College and St. Andrews (Fife), Wylie subsequently studied at the Original Secession Divinity Hall, Edinburgh, and was ordained in 1831. He joined the Free Church of Scotland in 1852 as edited the “Free Church Record” for some years. He was considered by many staunch Protestants to be an expert and leading spokesman on the principles of the Reformation and an able and sharp critic of Popery.
