Henry Alexander White (1861-1926), b. Greenbrier County, Virginia; taught history at Washington and Lee University (1889-1902); was Professor of New Testament Literature and Exegesis at Columbia Theological Seminary from 1903 to 1926. He also served as the pastor of several Presbyterian churches during his years of teaching. Dr White wrote biographies of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, several histories and a book on Southern Presbyterian leaders.
