The history of this ancient Presbyterian church is herein told, with the first minister being the Rev. John Craig, D.D. The church was founded nearly as soon as the first settlers arrived in the valley. There were no roads besides Indian trails, and Indians still frequented the area. The people were of hardy Scotch-Irish stock, and the Rev. John Craig had been born and educated in Ireland.
