Shirer, William L. The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany (Signed & inscribed). New York: Simon and Schuster, 1960. First Edition, First Printing.

Stated first printing.

Inscribed on the preliminary page with the small sowing man device, "To Charles Lee, In remembrance of meeting again after long years and of much good talk. Bill Shirer."

Charles Lee, the Philadelphia literary man and radio talent, who later in life became professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lee writes in the top right corner, "Nov. 30, 1960 at Sheraton East - after making 2 interviews on tape, for my WCAU radio program."

Near-fine - small bump to corner tip bottom front board - in very good unclipped dj, dj with a couple of short closed edge-tears, two pill-sized blotches on the spine panel where the glossy coating has raised from the paper, corner tip chip at bottom fold of back inside panel, now in a clear wrapper.  Near fine in very good dust-jacket. Hardcover.  [2454]

A true signed copy - not on an added bookplate or a mass-produced signing - but with the personal remembrance and the added note by the owner of the place and the occasion.
