Harold Curtis Slade (1902-1974), b. Oxford, Nova Scotia; associate pastor of Jarvis St. Baptist Church, Toronto, (1946-1955), Senior pastor of the same from 1955 until his death in 1974. Before his time at Jarvis Street he was the pastor of the Baptist Church of Westport, Ontario, and afterwards of First Baptist Church, Timmons. After 12 years at Timmons he entered the chaplaincy, in 1942. He was a key figure in Fundamentalist circles, for six years Secretary of the Union of Regular Baptist Churches (1943-1949), and in international and Canadian fundamentalist councils and congresses. He was awarded the D. D. by Faith Theological Seminary (1955), and the LL.D. by Bob Jones University in 1962. - Baptist History Homepage, online.
