John Henry Jowett (1864-1923), English Congregational minister & author. In 1909 he traveled to the USA to address the Northfield Conference founded by D. L. Moody. After preaching twice at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City he was pressed several times by that congregation to remain as pastor. In 1911 he accepted their third call. Jowett's ministry in that place was very powerful. He returned to London in 1917, accepting the call of the Westminster Chapel. - ccel online.
