Dr. James Edwin Orr, (1912-1987), b. in Belfast, Northern Ireland; d. at Ridgecrest, North Carolina. Orr began evangelising while still a teenager, and the growth of his revival-oriented ministry took him all over the world. He entered the Baptist ministry at Newark, NJ, in 1940, subsequent to revival trips around the world. He took his PhD at Oxford after the close of WWII; his thesis was on the Second Evangelical Awakening in England. He became professor of at the School of World Missions at Fuller Theological Seminary about 1966, and taught until 1981. He was influential in Campus Crusade for Christ, and one of the five original board members. His works include many books on evangelism as well as several popular hymns. Billy Graham said of him, “Dr. J. Edwin Orr, in my opinion, is one of the greatest authorities on the history of religious revivals in the Protestant World.” - condensed from wikipedia.
