This history of the Anglican church was based on a series of lectures delivered by the author during the Lenten seasons of 1894 and of 1900, first at Grace Church, Utica, NY, and then at St. Agnes' Chapel, NYC.
The sections are St. Alban and the British Church, Gregory the Great and the Saxons, Augustine and the Roman Mission, Aidan and the Celtic MIssion, Wilfrid and the Roman Question, Theodore and Organization.
The author's intent is to show that the Church of England existed before the Church of Rome claimed authority over her, that it did not begin at the Reformation, but was founded by Apostolic men.
