American Presbyterian Mission. Minutes of the Mid-China Mission of the Presbyterian Church in the United States 1912-1926. Shanghai: Presbyterian Mission Press | Commercial Press, Limited, 1912-1926. First Editions.
15 years worth of Minutes bound in three imitation leather bindings, 6 x 8 1/4 inches, first two bindings good, the third has some damage to the backstrip and is starting to separate in the middle of the spine. The issues vary in length, 75-100 pp. each. Generally clean with a few incidental notations. Includes indices. Small historical society stamps on the first page of each volume. Good. Hardcover.
There is a duplicate issue for 1914 in the first volume. The wrappers are not bound in with these Minutes, but we have single issues with them, and from them we take the imprints. They were all published in Shanghai, with Presbyterian Mission Press as publisher of earlier issues, then Commercial Press Limited. The only one of this lot that might have been PMP would be that of 1912; we have a single of the 1913 that has CPL and one from 1941 also CPL, and so we make an assumption.
The Mid-China Mission records were published from 1894 to 1941 and include minutes and reports from the various stations of the mission - Hangchow, Kashing, Kiangyin, Sinchang, and Soochow - and frome the hospitals and schools operated by the PCUS at those stations. The records include records of missionaries, Chinese evangelists, Chinese "Bible-Women," Chinese teachers and Chinese medical staff. The photo of the index pages covers part of the first volume and doesn't include matter from the next two volumes.
